26% of surveyed homeowners report concerns related to window durability ahead of 2021 hurricane season
FOSTER CITY, CA, April 27, 2021 – Windows play an integral role in a home’s infrastructure, but without the right protection, that value can be shattered when a hurricane strikes. To help people protect their homes in advance of hurricane season, Modernize.com, a leader in the home improvement and home services industry, releases guidance on selecting hurricane windows.

The guide summarizes critical information on the options for impact-resistant windows and types of shatter-resistant glazing, how to determine the best windows for one’s home, and what homeowners can expect to pay:
- Impact-resistant windows range in cost from $400 to $800 per window, on average.
- Homeowners should budget up to $100 per hour, per window, for installation and labor.
Guidance is offered on identifying applicable rebates and tax incentives for installing hurricane-proof windows. Modernize also now offers homeowners a free, digital Contractor Checklist as a simple, step-by-step guide to assist with a window replacement project.
“Expert meteorologists predict above-normal hurricane activity in 2021, including eight Category 3,4 or 5 hurricanes.
