Foster City, CA – December 17, 2019 – The end of the year is upon us. Those shopping for a new home or looking to refinance are paying close attention to mortgage interest rates. While they dropped lower in 2019 than many experts predicted a year ago, even those with 20/20 vision aren’t sure what interest rates will do in 2020. HSH.com rounded up several experts to get their predictions for the upcoming year.
For a forecast, HSH.com looked at leading housing organizations and industry authorities; all of the groups expect 2020 mortgage rates to remain near record lows. Following are their predictions for 30-year mortgage fixed interest rates in 2020.
- CoreLogic: <4%
- Fannie Mae: 3.6%
- Freddie Mac: 3.8%
- Kiplinger: 3.7%
- Mortgage Bankers Association: 3.7%
- National Association of Home Builders: 3.9%
- National Association of Realtors: 3.8%
- Realtor.com: 3.85%
- Wells Fargo: 3.6%
The average rate for all of the above is 3.74%.
